Seminole Sunday Summary: FSU Women Win ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship
Florida State women’s track and field joined FSU soccer as groups of Seminoles to claim an ACC title this athletic year.
FSU won the 3-day ACC Track and Field Indoor Championships on Saturday. The Seminoles finished with 95 points — 10 more than second-place Miami.
The first two days weren’t great for FSU, but the Seminoles dominated the running events on Saturday. Jodie Judd (1 mile), Jayla Kirkland (60 meters) and Ruta Lasmane (triple jump) all claimed individual titles for FSU. Yasmine Abbes (1 mile) and Alonie Sutton (triple jump) each finished second behind their victorious teammates.
The FSU men had to settle for third place behind Virginia Tech and North Carolina. In the men’s long jump, FSU’s Isaac Grimes and Jeremiah Davis finished first and second.
Trey Cunningham also emerged victorious for the Seminoles in the 60-meter hurdles. Adriaan Wildschutt won in the 3000 meters.
Several FSU athletes qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which take place in Fayetteville on March 12 and 13.
